Elena Di Giovanni, Associate Professor of Audiovisual Translation at the University of Macerata and professional film translator, has a degree in Specialized Translation from the University of Bologna and a Ph.D. in English for Special Purposes and Audiovisual Translation from the University of Naples Federico II and the University of Bologna.
Since November 4, 2016, she is President of ESIST, European Association for Studies in Screen Translation. In this podcast, you will hear her guide the participants of the 28 Times Cinema at the 74th Venice International Film Festival through “seeing and translating cinema” in an intensive workshop aimed at exploring the techniques used to translate films today, with a special focus on subtitles and their importance in making films travel the world to high-quality standards. In addition, the topics of film perception and reception by persons with sensory impairments will be addressed by highlighting the strategies and techniques used to make films accessible for all viewers.
