The 42nd Torino Film Festival (TFF) is set to premiere Waltzing with Brando, a much-anticipated biographical drama directed by Bill Fishman, on Saturday, November 30, during the festival’s awards ceremony.
The film, written and directed by Fishman, features Billy Zane, who delivers a remarkable portrayal of the iconic Marlon Brando, capturing the enigmatic star’s personality and dreams.
Adapted from Bernard Judge’s memoir of the same name, Waltzing with Brando transports audiences back to 1969-1974, a pivotal period when Brando was preparing for his legendary roles in The Godfather and Last Tango in Paris.
The narrative follows Brando and Judge as they attempt to create an environmentally sustainable retreat on an uninhabited Tahitian island, reflecting Brando’s passionate vision for a more sustainable world. Judge, an architect, becomes Brando’s collaborator and friend on this remarkable journey.
Joining Zane in the cast are Jon Heder (Napoleon Dynamite, Blades of Glory) and Oscar-winning actor Richard Dreyfuss, making this project one of the most eagerly awaited films on the festival circuit. Fishman, known for indie classics like Tapeheads and Car 54, Where Are You? has imbued this unique story with his characteristic blend of realism and stylized narrative.
The Waltzing with Brando screening perfectly concludes TFF’s Marlon Brando retrospective, celebrating his 100th birth anniversary.
Billy Zane, famous for Titanic, Orlando, and Dead Calm, will attend, bringing Hollywood glamour to the event.
This world premiere marks a milestone for Waltzing with Brando, which has been highly sought after in international markets and promises to stand out in celebrating Brando’s legacy at TFF.
