Vince Vaughn, interview with actor recipient of the Stella della Mole Award at the 42nd Torino Film Festival Angelo Acerbi
Vince Vaughn was honoured with the Stella Della Mole Award during the 42nd Torino Film Festival, the actor came to the festival to introduce and talk about his film “Swingers“, that was his international breakthrough. In this chat with Angelo Acerbi, the actor talks about his career, his roles and his craft.
Vince Vaughn confesses, thinking about the times he shot “Swingers“, that they all were not aware of the magnitude the film would have acquired after his release. They were friends, having fun on a project they love, that they all considered as very good but very niche. The future proved them wrong, luckily.
Dumped by his girlfriend and still grieving, struggling comedian Mike has moved from New York to Los Angeles to try to make a career in the entertainment industry. Dragged by his friend Trent, also an aspiring actor and above all a womenizer, Mike goes from one party to another and from one bar to another, ruining things ever with his incurable melancholy for lost love. With yet another outburst of desperation, Mike decides to change and one night he meets Lorraine, who recently broke off her relationships too and moved to Los Angeles. When Lorraine recalls him, Mike cuts off his bound with the ex-girlfriend and decides to further things with her. Unlike Trent, stuck in the past, he will finally be able to start a new life. A critical and commercial hit, the film helped propel Favreau, Vaughn, Graham, and Livingston to stardom, while also launching Liman’s directing career as he won the award for Best New Filmmaker at the 1997 MTV Movie Awards.
