PODCAST | Niklas Pollmann interviews Ursula Meier, director and writer of the film The Line.
Niklas talks with Ursula Meier about her current work The Line that was premiering in the Main Competition section of the 72nd Berlinale. Among other things, she talks about the importance of symbolism in her work, the use of situative comedy elements, and collaborations with actresses Stéphanie Blanchout and Valeria Bruni Tedeschi.
The Line : The tense relationship between the impulsive 35-year-old musician Margaret and her 55-year-old mother Christina erupts at the very beginning. Margaret beats up her mother so badly that she is forbidden by the police to come within 100m of her mother and her family. Her little 12-year-old sister Marion henceforth draws a line with paint around the perimeter of her mother’s house, defining a symbolic front line.
