Sigourney Weaver to Receive Golden Lion for Lifetime Achievement at Venice Film Festival

The Board of the Biennale di Venezia announced that they had awarded the prestigious Golden Lion for Lifetime Achievement to iconic American actress and three-time Academy Award nominee Sigourney Weaver at the 81st Venice International Film Festival, which will take place from August 28 to September 7, 2024.

Sigourney Weaver, renowned for her roles in Alien, Gorillas in the Mist, Ghostbusters, Master Gardener, and The Year of Living Dangerously, has been a transformative figure in cinema, and she is celebrated for her powerful performances and ability to transcend genre boundaries. Weaver’s acceptance of the award reflects her gratitude towards her collaborators and the filmmaking community:
