ShorTS International Film Festival

The 25th edition of the ShorTS International Film Festival is ready to conquer Trieste from 28 June to 6 July 2024. This event, directed by Maurizio di Rienzo, celebrates short cinema and promises a rich and varied program that will take place at the Giardino Pubblico Muzio de Tommasini, the Miela Theater and the Sala Xenia.
The ShorTS International Film Festival will last nine days and present 117 works divided into seven competition sections. The historic Maremetraggio section has 45 short films from 43 countries. Other sections include ShorTS Express, Eco-ShorTS, Italia in ShorTS, Shorter Kids’n’Teens, ShorTS Immersive, and three short films out of competition. Also this year, the pre-festival ShorTS Development & Pitching Training trained screenwriters and directors of eight international projects, the winners of which will be in Trieste.
The ShorTS International Film Festival will pay homage to notable figures of Italian cinema. On 28 June, Simone Massi will receive the Cinema dell’Anima Award, and his first feature film, Invelle, will be screened.
The Cinema del Presente Award will go to the brothers Damiano and Fabio D’Innocenzo. The two Roman directors will share their cinematic experience with the public on 29 June.
Carlotta Gamba will receive the Prospettiva Award, intended for young promises of Italian cinema, and will be the protagonist of a masterclass on 30 June. Isabella Ragonese and Michele Riondino will be honoured with the Interprete del Presente Award, meeting the public on July 3rd and 5th, respectively.
Laura Samani will be the protagonist of the Campolungo section.
The ShorTS Immersive section will allow you to explore new forms of narration with seven works visible through specific viewers. The renewed collaboration with MYmovies ONE will allow 65 short films previously unreleased in Italy to be viewed online from 29 June to 7 July.
The ShorTS International Film Festival‘s annual focus will be Turkish short cinema, with five recent short films screening. Furthermore, the ShorTS Comics Marathon will involve 70 cinephile designers in a relay of cinema-related panels.
The ShorTS International Film Festival 2024 promises to be an unmissable edition full of cinema, meetings and innovations. Don’t miss the opportunity to participate in this extraordinary event in Trieste, where short films will be the absolute protagonist.
