Nadeshda Brennicke graduated from the Zinner Schauspielschule in Munich in the early 1990s. It did not take long before she starring in a range of successful films such as Bob Swaim’s Le Doigt de Dieu (1997) and Dominik Graf’s Hotte Im Paradies (2003). The latter film as well as the production Silikon Walli (2002) gained her Deutscher Fernsehpreis nominations. She was awarded the prestigious Grimme-Preis for her role in Denis Gansel’s The Phantom (2000), and recently received the Silver Hugo for Best Actress in Banklady (2014) at the Chicago International Film Festival. We will be presenting Nadeshda Brennicke’s latest movie Banklady (our Opening Night Film in Sydney and in Melbourne) as well as a retrospective evening with The Phantom and Tattoo.

For the first time in its history, the Cannes Film Festival reveals two official posters for its 78th edition, inspired by Claude Lelouch’s 1966 Palme d’Or-winning masterpiece A Man and a Woman.
Alice Rohrwacher has been appointed President of the Caméra d’or Jury at Cannes 2025. Known for her poetic and visionary cinema, Rohrwacher will award the best first feature at the festival’s closing ceremony on May 24.
The Mariana Trench, closing film of the 38° BFFB, is coming out in italian movie theaters as "La Fossa delle Marianne" from April 24th.
