Miriam Karlkvist – Actress
Festival section: European Shooting Stars 2014
FRED talks to Italian actress Miriam Karlkvist, one of this year’s European Shooting Stars, from the 64th Berlin International Film Festival.
Jury’s comment: Miriam makes a striking debut in SOUTH IS NOTHING. We were impressed by vividly original work: a significant leading role that remains committed to the complexity of the character. By the film’s climax, Miriam’s talent is revealed in further depth, giving us an enticing glimpse of her future potential.
Miriam Karlkvist was born in Reggio Calabria in 1992. She is half Italian and half Swedish. Directly after completing her high school education she made her film debut as the featured actor in SOUTH IS NOTHING directed by Fabio Mollo. The film was invited to both the Toronto and Rome International Film Festivals and will now be screened at the 2014 Berlin International Film Festival in the Generation 14plus. Miriam currently lives in Rome where she is studying acting, writing and photography.
