Michael Peña and Alexander Skarsgård are protagonists in the film War on Everyone, directed by John Michael McDonagh, which has been presented at the 66th Berlinale in the Panorama Special section. The two young actors play a couple of corrupted cops, with their own moral code, trying to steal from a gang of criminals.
Skarsgard was cast thanks to a crazy video he shot at a football game and he immediately found the right chemistry with his “buddy” Peña. The two shared a “bromance” on and off screen. After his two previous films set in Ireland, which starred Brendan Gleeson, McDonagh created his own idea of a out-of-time Alburqueque in New Mexico and that’s what makes the film perfect to experiment a mix of genres and influences. And, the open ending offers plenty of room for a sequel or a TV series…
WAR ON EVERYONE: Two corrupt cops in New Mexico set out to blackmail and frame every criminal unfortunate enough to cross their path in this volatile jet-black action comedy.
