A due anni da “El Agua“, presentato alla Quinzaine di Cannes nel 2022 e suo esordio nel lungometraggio di finzione, Elena López Riera torna sulla Croisette per presentare “Las Novias del Sur“, in Semaine de la critique.

Cortometraggio pieno di interviste a donne di tutte le età che raccontano la loro esperienza nel rituale più antico del mondo, quello del matrimonio. Come hanno vissuto la sessualità con i propri mariti? la prima notte di nozze?

Queste le domande semplici ma essenziali che pone loro la regista López Riera per indagare su chi erano le donne di ieri e chi sono quelle di oggi tra traguardi raggiunti e tradizioni patriarcali ancora da combattere.

“Las Novias del Sur – Southern brides” è una coproduzione Spagna- Svizzera ed è stato presentato alla 63esima Semaine de la Critique come Special Screening.


Plot

Delle donne mature parlano del loro matrimonio, della loro prima volta, delle loro relazioni personali con il sesso. Nel ripetere questi antichi rituali, la regista si interroga sulla sua condizione di donna single senza figli e dunque lei stessa punto di fine ad una catena di relazioni madre-figlia.
