Jay Weissberg – film critic for Variety and director of Pordenone’s Silent Film Festival – talks about the silent film festival’s decision to go online later this year in response to the current global pandemic. The festival will run on October 3-10, Weissberg talks about whether this was a difficult decision to take, as well as whether he believes this will somehow benefit a the global discourse on film preservation. In the first part of our chat, he also shares his thoughts with us on the current situation and how cinema has been impacted in several ways.
