For almost two decades the Italian Film Festival has celebrated Italian language, culture and la dolce vita, presenting the best new contemporary Italian cinema and most cherished classics on the big screen. For the first time, the Festival introduces the Bulgari Critics’ Choice Award, a new prize to celebrate Italian contemporary cinema. Six films are featured in the official competition section, chosen from the most acclaimed Italian productions in the last year.
Tenderness: Estranged from his family, a cynical widower grows close to his new neighbours in Gianni Amelio’s beautifully shot drama Tenderness, featuring festival ambassador Greta Scacchi who plays Aurora, a woman who arrives at a moment of crisis with a distressing story to tell.
