PODCAST | Cristiana Palmieri interviews Geeta Gandbhir, co-director and co-producer of A Journey of a Thousand Miles: Peacekeepers from the 2016 Sydney Film Festival
The inspiring story of a group of Bangladeshi policewomen who join a UN peacekeeping mission to Haiti, directed by two-time Oscar winners Sharmeen Obaid-Chinoy and Geeta Gandbhir.
A JOURNEY OF A THOUSAND MILES: PEACEKEEPERS: We wanted to make a film about Muslim women who defy stereotypes. The Bangladeshi women who travel overseas to be part of the UN Peacekeeping force do just that. They come from small towns and cities and leave behind families, which often include young children, to travel halfway across the world to serve. These brave women and their stories is just what the world needs to see and hear. – Directors Geeta Gandbhir and Sharmeen Obaid-Chinoy
