Fruit Chan – Director – The Midnight After
Festival section: Panorama
In conversation with Hong Kong director Fruit Chan, attending this year’s Berlin Film Festival for the world premiere of his latest work: “The Midnight After”. Mixing comedy, sci-fi, and horror elements, the film tells the story of 17 characters who find themselves alone in an empty city. Everyone else seems to be vanished for good, and they are compelled to face their fears, uncertainties, and moral values. Mr Chan discusses his ideas about the film and comments on his transition from independent to (brilliant) commercial filmmaking.
