PODCAST | Cristiana Palmieri interviews Eddie Tamir, artistic director of the Jewish International Film Festival in Sydney.
Artistic Director Eddie Tamir talks about this year’s program, pointing out that a strong theme that emerges from the stories told in many of the films relates to new Jewish migrants transcending the odds to forge new pathways and achieve ground-breaking things in their new countries. FRED askes Eddie why there are so many Holocaust-themed films produced every year and he explains that “incredible untold stories continue to be unearthed and film makers choose the period to tell their stories because they unfortunately resonate with contemporary racism and antisemitism.”
JIFF 2019 presents 61 films from 23 countries, including 28 features, 29 documentaries, three Australian films, a selection of American indie titles, stories from the Holocaust era, full season screenings of three TV series and a couple of short films.
