PODCAST | Diego Aparicio interviews Catharine Des Forges, director of the Independent Cinema Office.
Catharine is director of the Independent Cinema Office. She founded it in 2003 and continues to lead on the overall strategy and development of the company. On the opening night of the 2019 New Horizons Film Festival, Catharine talked to us about the role of the ICO, and “Developing Your Film Festival”: one of the many courses the ICO organises for film professionals from all over the world.
During the 2019 edition of New Horizons, we talked to some of the participants of the ICO’s course for festival professionals, “Developing Your Film Festival”. “Developing Your Film Festival” is an intensive training program for professionals working in the festival industry. The training is organized by the London Independent Cinema Office. Each year, it is held as a part of a different European film festival. So far participants of more than 170 film festivals around the globe took part in “Developing Your Film Festival”. The instructors were experts of Berlinale, Hot Docs, as well as Rotterdam and Toronto film festivals. Training participants will have the opportunity to learn how to increase their audience, promote the festival internationally, gain sponsors and more.
