PODCAST | Nicolò Comotti interviews Sebastian Debertin, head of acquis. & Co-Prod. / head of fiction at ARD/ZDF KI.KA Der Kinderkanal.
Sebastian Debertin helped create and launch KiKA – The Children’s Channel of ARD & ZDF that became market leader in German speaking territories in 2015. As Head of Fiction, Acquisitions and Co-Productions, a position he has held for 20 years, Sebastian oversees all international acquisitions, productions and co-productions for KiKA and its platforms. Sebastian has won several national and international awards, including an Emmy. He looks for acquisitions and co-productions for truly all genres of programming from national and international sources, more precisely, in Europe from Germany, France, UK, Ireland, Italy and Scandinavia. Furthermore, Canada, Australia and the US, South Korea and Singapore complete the main countries where programmes come from. Furthermore, he is responsible for programme development, contract negotiations with national and international partners, relationship management with KiKA’s international production and distribution partners, supervision of productions, co-productions and dubbing projects, plus securing third-party funding. He is sharing his experience and expertise at various Universities and Media Academies, e. g. The Television Business School, The German Academy for Children’s Media and others.
