PODCAST | Nicolò Comotti interviews Chiara Magri, director CSC Animation section.
In today’s on demand world, many new routes have opened up for animation producers to successfully increase the presence of their works on the many digital screens. With audiences accessing more video and interactive content through their own devices and at their chosen time, the relationship between content creators and their viewers has become more direct and can only continue to grow. As new findings reveal audiences massive shifts to OTT and SVoD services, broadcasters, producers and distributors are shaping strategies to carve out their share of this new digital landscape which underpins growing competition for more global content, new direct-to-consumer approaches and kids’ new entertainment patterns. This is why for this year’s edition of Cartoon Digital, we have convened a prestigious line-up of 32 forward-thinking speakers from 9 European countries and Canada to showcase how animation producers can benefit from creating and growing their brands on multiple platforms. As new content and players emerge, the more traditional and commercial approaches to dealmaking are also disrupted and media groups and rights owners will present case studies on how to engage with audiences and fans to hit profitable business models. Complemented by innovative moves from VR/AR creators of immersive contents, converging approaches from digital publishers and game developers, the diverse programme will offer a good vision of the main creative and economic dynamics at play.
This interview was recorded during the Cartoon Digital Festival 2019, in partnership with the Sardinia Film Commission, thanks to the Italian Film Commissions Association and with the support of the Italian Trade Agency.
