PODCAST | Angelo Acerbi interviews Carolina Hellsgard, director of the film Sunburned.
Carolina Hellsgard based the narrative of her film on her memories of summer holidays with her family as a kid: dull times, and executing times as well. But she wanted to put some social and political issues in it too, through the eye of a young girl, where purity lies.
Sunburned: Claire is on vacation with her sister Zoe and la mum Sophie at a resort in southern Spain. Abandoned by the family, Claire befriends Amram, a young street vendor of origin Senegal. With the deepening of their friendship, Claire tries to help him but accidentally ends up to exacerbate his already difficult situation. When the family organizes a trip to Morocco across the Strait of Gibraltar, Claire hides Amram in the cabin of their boat hoping desperately to have done the right thing.
