PODCAST| Angelo Acerbi interviews Camila Freitas, director of the film Chao.
Chao is a powerful and engaging documentary, about the landless workers in Brazil, who moved to deserted and abandoned lands to work them and live by the results of such work. Camila tells us how she worked on this project, how in the four years of the making she could understand reasons and needs of the landless workers and why their job is now even more important, facing the new Brazilian government just come to power.
Chao: Freitas crafts arresting images to portray the struggles of the Landless Workers Movement in Brazil. Activists occupy the grounds of a sugar cane factory in Goiás and begin to farm them: an exercise in ecological mixed cultivation and political utopia.
