Brigitta Manthey, the financial advisor at the Medienboard Berlin-Brandenburg, the main institution for the film and media industry in the German capital region, provides funding for films, high-end drama series and film-related projects, advises filmmakers on financing issues and supports the development of the film industry. During the course of 23rd Sarajevo Film Festival, she gave a talk highlighting film funding in Germany and opportunities of international co-productions (Germany remains the most active co-producing partner for Southeast Europe).
In this interview, she highlights the activities relating to the film funding division of Medienboard Berlin-Brandenburg, regarding national and international co-productions. Among the topics discussed: the selection criteria, the percentage of current Medienboard international co-productions, the current decreasing trend of its budgets for films from the Southeast European region, and much more.
Medienboard Berlin-Brandenburg is the main institution for the film and media industry in the German capital region. The Film Funding division provides funding for films, high end drama series and film-related projects, advises filmmakers on financing issues, and supports the development of the film industry. The Media Business Development division represents Berlin-Brandenburg as a key media location in Germany at international markets and festivals, provides market research and analysis and organizes networking events. The department funds media-related projects, serial formats as well as the development of content in the games, web, mobile and VR categories.
