“Conversation with” at the 20th Marrakech IFF, interview with actor Willem Dafoe Bénédicte Prot
PODCAST | Angelo Acerbi interviews Bas Devos, director of the film Here.
Bas Devo brings, with his film Here, a breath of humanity and kindness to the screen of the Berlinale 73, for us the audience to enjoy and take in. His filmmaking is very fluid and effective, and he tells us the work he did with his actor Stefan Gota to build such a gentle and human character without making him corny or unreal.
Here: Stefan, a Romanian construction worker living in Brussels, is on the verge of moving back home. He cooks up a big pot of soup with leftovers in his fridge, to hand out as a goodbye gift to friends and family. As he is ready to go, he meets a Belgian-Chinese young woman who works in a little restaurant while preparing a doctorate on mosses. Her attention for the near-invisible stops him in his tracks.
