FRED’s Chiara Nicoletti meets Stephan James , protagonist of Race by Stephen Hopkins , in Rome for the Italian Release of the film. Race is based on the true story of James Cleveland “Jesse” Owens, the afro-american atlete who, in 1936, participated in the Berlin Olympic Games and, despite racism and the Nazi regime in Germany, won 4 golden medals. Stephan James is very proud of being the voice of this great story and to have portrayed an hero in World History.
RACE: Based on the incredible true story of Jesse Owens, the legendary athletic superstar whose quest to become the greatest track and field athlete in history thrusts him onto the world stage of the 1936 Olympics, where he faces off against Adolf Hitler’s vision of Aryan supremacy. Race is an enthralling film about courage, determination, tolerance, and friendship, and an inspiring drama about one man’s fight to become an Olympic legend.
