Die Kinder Der Toten is as unpredictable as its producer, austrian director Ulrich Seidl. Directors Pavol Liska and Kelly Copper, at the Torino Film Festival 2019 where the film is showcased in the After hours section, talk about its genesis from the book by Nobel prize winner Elfriede Jelinek. The directors explain how they turned all that creative freedom in a crazy unpredictable silent horror film.

Die Kinder Der Toten: The Holocaust in an undead version set in Tyrol, with zombie Nazis and Jews. The two directors, the founders of the Nature Theater of Oklahoma, adapt the same-titled novel by Elfriede Jelinek (the Nobel prize for literature in 2004) without ever having read the book: the result is a silent horror movie in 16mm with subtitles, in which very black humor helps “freeze” and strengthen the tragedy. The FIPRESCI prize at the Forum in Berlin. Produced by Ulrich Seidl.
