PODCAST | Diego Aparicio interviews Ioakim Mylonas, Artistic Director of International Short Film Festival of Cyprus.
“The production [of Cypriot shorts] is of a higher standard than it was a few years ago. And this is not [just] wishful thinking. You can see Cypriot short films being screened in [well-respected] film festivals and winning awards. I think the quality is on the rise.”
The International Short Film Festival of Cyprus, now in its 9th edition, has very recently joined the family of festivals accredited by the European Film Academy. We talked to one of its two artistic directors, Ioakim Mylonas, about its steady growth over the years, and everything unique about it. This year’s edition comprised a strong competition programme, with parallel events showcasing the new Lanthimos (NIMIC), as well as a tribute to Auteurs of French Cinema with a selection of shorts from the ’90s.
