William Fairman, the director, and David Stuart a health operator, talking about Chemsex, which screened at the 31st Torino Gay and Lesbian Film Festival. A cruel and sobering documentary on the dangerous phenomenon of chemical drugs and sex in the London gay community.

CHEMSEX: The term “chemsex” refers to the combination of sex and drugs, often synthetic drugs, used as a way to remove inhibitions and enhance libido, usually in the context of group sex and S/M sessions, which can last for days. This practice has spread through the British gay community, mostly in London, where it has become a real emergency. The main risks of the chemsex phenomenon are virus transmission, not least HIV, and the spread of dangerous addictions with a destructive impact on the body and the psyche. Sixteen stories, sixteen confessions made by sixteen people of all ages, especially 40- year-olds, who are the victims of a practice that has become the cause of extreme distress, isolation and illness.

Chemsex is a shocking documentary, co-produced by the English production company Peccarillo Pictures and “Vice” media, which sheds light on the dangerous risks and consequences of a practice too often considered only a marginal activity.
