This year’s edition of the Clermont-Ferrand International Short Film Festival, the most important short film festival and market in the world, will be housing an Italian focus with an event hosted by the Italian Short Film Center, along with Short Circuit – the European Network of Short Film and Video Art Distributors.
The managing director of the Italian Short Film Center, Jacopo Chessa, joins us on FRED once again to talk about this event, which represents an prestigious and important initiative for the Italian short film industry.

As of 2016, the Italian Short Film Center, founding member of Short Circuit, will take part in the European Project “Short Film Pool”. In order to shine a light on this important initiative and in addition to the launch of numerous projects in support of Italian short films, the Italian Short Film Center, along with Short Circuit, will host an event that puts the spotlight on Italy, to explain, show and discuss the role of short films in Italy today.
The program includes:
A book presentation of The Italian short film Industry. 2014 Report (bilingual Italian/English edition) published by Fondazione Ente dello Spettacolo, edited by Jacopo Chessa.
The Italian film commissions from the regions of Basilicata, Piedmont and Sardinia will each give a presentation discussing their funds for short films, shorts they have subsidized and their future prospects. In collaboration with Italian Film Commissions.
Italy and TV Paola Ruggeri from Mediaset Premium, the main Italian channel for short acquisitions, will discuss the channel’s criteria of selection, their editorial line and their upcoming projects involving short films.
Mauro Gervasini, head programmer at Venice Film Festival, will discuss the panorama of Italian film festivals with regard to short films starting with Venice, the most important Italian film festival.
