“Conversation with” at the 20th Marrakech IFF, interview with actor Willem Dafoe Bénédicte Prot
Over the past few days, the collateral prizes of the 80th Venice Film Festival have been awarded. Below are the films that received the most important of these awards:
Sergio Castellitto won the Pietro Bianchi 2023 Prize, the award that Italian Cinema Journalists (SNGCI) traditionally assign at the Lido, this year for its 47th edition, to an outstanding personality of Italian cinema.
The award presentation to Sergio Castellitto took place on Wednesday, 6 September. Our Giulia Bianconi interviewed the actor immediately after the award presentation.

Every year since 1948, at the Venice International Film Festival, members of FIPRESCI, the International Federation of Film Press, have awarded a prize to what they consider to be the best film, to support the most ‘risky, original and personal’ cinema.
This year the award as:
The Pasinetti Prize is one of the collateral prizes of the Venice International Film Festival. It is dedicated to Francesco Pasinetti, Italian director, screenwriter, film critic and photographer. The Prize is awarded by the Sindacato Nazionale Giornalisti Cinematografici Italiani (SNGCI).
This year the Pasinetti Award went to “Io, Capitano” by Matteo Garrone
The 2023 FRED Awards were presented in Venice at the Venice Film Festival to two artists whose films have given voice to incredible stories and characters:

The 17. Queer Lion Award – collateral award of the 80th Venice International Film Festival, ideated in 2007 by Daniel N. Casagrande – has been awarded to Domakinstvo za pocetnici (Housekeeping for Beginners) by Goran Stolevski, presented in Orizzonti section.
Motivation: “Queer families are not the future; they are the present!”. With this statement, the director commented on the extraordinary, moving and warm welcome from the Venice audience after the screening of his movie.
For the unusual and bold portrayal of ethnicities, diversity, gender identity, loves, friendships, emotional affinities, the Queer Lion is proud to award Domakinstvo za pocetnici (Housekeeping for Beginners) by Goran Stolevski.”
Ryusuke Hamaguchi‘s “Evil does not exist” wins the Film Impresa Award. In our microphones, the prize’s artistic director Mario Sesti describes the motivations behind the choice.
