PODCAST | Matt Micucci interviews Shekhar Kapur, filmmaker and president of the jury of the 1st International Film Festival & Awards – Macao.
Filmmaker Shekhar Kapur makes history as the president of the jury of the competition of the inaugural edition of the International Film Festival & Awards Macao. Kapur recognized the establishment of this festival as something quite important, as is the choice of establishing it in a city like Macao, which is a discovery in itself. In terms of his position as president of the jury, he expresses his opinion on the high quality of the selection. But we soon move on and talk about the potential role that this festival could have in the film industry – and why film industry should take an active interest in China. We also discuss other things, such as the power of bridging cultures that cinema, more than any other artform has, and the differences in the way in which we consume cinema – in other words, what is the difference between watching films in a theatre and watching it on a small computer screen. This also leads Kapur on reflection on the future of cinema and VR.
